EARTHEN SWEATSHIRT

The Earthen Sweatshirt is an exploration of layered construction, traditional Indian craftsmanship, and contemporary pattern engineering. Built from premium 240 GSM cotton terry in a warm beige tone, the silhouette serves as a minimal canvas for an intricate surface treatment inspired by centuries-old Ajrakh block printing.

Rather than applying the print directly onto the garment, the sweatshirt is constructed using a meticulous multi-stage process. A complete layer of authentic Ajrakh block-printed fabric is first carefully positioned and stitched over the beige base sweatshirt, extending seamlessly across both the front and back. Every placement is intentionally symmetrical, allowing the artwork to flow naturally across the garment.

Once the printed panels are secured, the entire pattern is hand-marked using chalk before undergoing precision pattern stitching. The excess Ajrakh fabric is then individually hand-cut away, revealing the beige cotton terry beneath. This reverse appliqué technique transforms the garment into a sculptural composition of positive and negative space, where every exposed section is created through deliberate subtraction rather than surface decoration.

The result is a garment with genuine depth and dimensionality—where heritage textiles, engineered paneling, and handcrafted finishing merge into a modern architectural silhouette. No print sits on the surface; instead, the artwork is physically built into the construction of the sweatshirt itself.
